When a plant structure being copied contains objects in the design files, that were placed there using the Insert > Object command (Link is checked in the Insert Object dialog) in Catalog Manager, certain actions are required to successfully copy these objects and their links to the new copied plant so that the links continue to function. Failure to carry out these actions could result in the links pointing to the objects in the old plant and not to the objects in the new copied plant.

Before Saving the Plant Structure

The inserted object files must be stored in the plant data folder or in one of the folders used in the Save Plant Structure process, as designated in the Options Manager for the application, so that they are copied along with all other plant data.

After Loading the Plant

After loading the plant structure, there are two possible scenarios:

  • In the event that the original object files no longer exist, or you do not have permission to access the original plant data, then the software will automatically redirect the links to the new plant paths.

  • If the original object files still exist and you have the required permissions to access the original plant data, then the software ignores the new plant paths and reconnects the copied links to the original plant paths. To redirect the links to the new copied object files you must run the the Change Linked Document Source Utility. For more information, contact Intergraph Support.
