Smart Reference Data provides the ability to create ident codes based on a rule. You can specify the composition of an ident code the same way as you do for commodity codes. You can choose which digit of the ident code signifies which type. The ident rule can be defined on the S.10.01 Commodity Rules screen. Also, you can impose logical unique keys on the ident codes.
In order to create the ident codes based on a rule, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Define Ident Rule
On S.10.01 Commodity Rules – Ident Attribute tab, define ident key for rule. This includes specifying Digits, Type and / or Logical Unique Key.
On S.10.01 Commodity Rules – CC Attribute Labels tab, define CC Attribute Labels. This includes selecting an attribute for the Type Attr Char 1…Attr Char 10 selected in the Ident Key for Rule. The label text of the selected attribute serves as prompt for the variable attributes in the Additional TAG Info tab of the S.30.01 Commodity Codes screen. Only these variable attributes will be displayed in S.30.01 that you select in Ident Key for Rule.
Step 2: Specify Additional TAG Information
On S.30.01 Commodity Codes - Additional TAG Info tab, enter the Tag Number and other project specific information. Copy functionality, to copy Additional TAG Info from other Projects / Product Group, is available.
Step 3: Associate Tag Number and Build Idents
On S.50.06 Specification Management: Window 2, associate the Tag Number with the specification items if you want to build the idents as per the rule.
Initiate building the rule based ident codes either by clicking the Build Idents button in S.50.06 Specification Management: Window 2 to build idents for all specification items, or by clicking the Build Idents button in S.50.06 Specification Management: Window 3 to build idents for a particular specification item.
The created rule based ident codes can be reviewed on S.50.06 Specification Management: Window 3 - Spec Item Idents tab.
