This functionality allows you to define various component groups associating Short Code, Commodity Group and Commodity Part, and set of tables that have been marked as Spec Template in the commodity rules associated to the parts. Use the S.50.17 Component Groups screen to define the component groups.

In the first (Component Groups) block, you can define the component groups. In the Component Group field, enter the name of the component group you want to create, and in the Short Desc and Description fields, type the component group description.

In the second (Components) block, you can associate short codes, commodity groups, and commodity parts to a component group defined in the first block. In the Short Code field, enter the short code you want to include in the component group. In the Group field, select a commodity group from the list. This field is optional. In the Part field, select a commodity part from the list. This field is also optional because there may be cases where you just want fill in the commodity group and leave the part blank. This would mean that the corresponding record applies to all the parts of the specified commodity group.

Group and Part are optional fields, but either of them will be mandatory for each record. The data in this block is validated against the S.10.08 Short Codes Window 2 screen.

The third (Commodity Code Properties) block, displays all the information by default, when data is entered and saved in the Components block. The data in this Commodity Code Properties block is available as a result of selecting the distinct set of tables (considering only those tables with SPEC_TMPLT_IND = Y) from the commodity rules associated to the parts belonging to the selected component group. When working in proposal projects or EPC projects, the tables will be considered according to Spec template indicator and the option ‘Proposal only or Project Only’. It is assumed that the maximum number of tables for a component group is 10. If a component group has more than 10 resultant tables, an error message appears. Data in this block is not populated. Tables are displayed in alphabetical order. Only queries are allowed in this block. The Tablename field specifies the name of the table from the commodity rule assigned to the parts belonging to the selected component group. The corresponding SPEC_TMPLT_IND must be selected (set to Y) on the S.10.01 Commodity Rules screen, on the Attributes tab, for a table to appear here. The table description is displayed in the Short Desc and Description fields.
