You use I-Configure to control the point at which the software runs the Get External Data (GED) function. You can configure the software to run the GED function in the three ways explained below. You can use these methods individually or in combination on a project, with each using a different configuration file.
Regardless of the method you select, use I-Configure to define the required project defaults prior to executing the GED function. For more information, see Project Defaults and Attributes in the I-Configure Help.
Run the GED function on import
After the Isogen Data File (IDF) or Piping Component File (PCF) is converted to POD format, and before the resulting POD file is opened in the application, perform the steps below.

Open I-Configure and define the following project defaults:
GED Configuration (Import)
Specify the full path location and file name of the configuration file.
External Data on Import
Set to True.

In the Host application, select Project > Import.
Run the GED function interactively

Open I-Configure and find the GED Configuration (Interactive) project default.

Specify the full path location and file name of the configuration file.

In Smart Isometrics, select Tools > Get External Data.
Run the GED function on drawing generation

Open I-Configure and define the following project defaults:
GED Configuration (Generate)
Specify the full path location and file name of the configuration file.
External Data on Generate
Set to True

In the Host application, select Tools > Generate Drawing.
