The POD Compare Utility is an external, stand-alone tool that enables you to compare two POD files. The tool provides the same functionality as the Project > Compare PODs Command in the software but can be run outside of Smart Isometrics.

Navigate to the Smart Isometrics product folder, and then double-click PODCompare.exe to open the POD Compare dialog.

Select Browse
next to the File 1 box, and then navigate to the first file to compare.

Select Browse
next to the File 2 box, and then navigate to the second file to compare.
You can also type the full path location and file name of each file in the File 1 and File 2 boxes.

Select OK.
The software begins comparing the two files. After processing completes, the software displays the results in the POD Comparison window.

Review the comparison data.

To save the data, select Write Report in the POD Comparison window to open the Write Report File To dialog.

Navigate to the folder location, and then type a name for the log file in the File name box.

Select Save.
The software saves the data as a text file that you can open in a standard text editor. This log file contains a comparison of the POD and pipeline attributes in the two files and a summary of the data in each pipeline. The summary includes run and end point counts, counts of each type of component centerline lengths for each run, and a count of the number of components that are new, deleted, or changed.

Select OK to close the POD Comparison window.
