The first step in creating your symbol is to sketch and constrain the construction elements. Construction elements are used to aid in the definition and proper constraint of the final symbol geometry. Because of the way hole traces are placed into a Draft 2D view, hole trace symbols can be constrained using horizontal and vertical constraints.
-
Make the Constructions Layer active.
-
Place a point at the (0,0) origin of the 2D Symbols file, and then click Lock on the Relationship toolbar to lock the point.
-
Define the necessary horizontal and vertical construction lines relative to the symbol origin.
-
Define and constrain additional construction elements (lines, circles, and so forth) as needed.
-
Make the Dimension Layer active.
-
Dimension the construction elements to further constrain and aid in the definition of the geometry.
-
Click a dimension in the graphics view, and type the new dimension value to adjust.
