a select set by:

Drawing a rectangular or polygonal fence around elements based on points that you define.

Using the Chain Selection command to select an element and all elements that are chained or connected to the element based on endpoint connection.

Using the Invert Selection command to clear the current element select set while adding new elements to the select set.
