Load data in the Rules of Progress Utility

  1. Configure and generate your rules of progress data. For more information, see Configure the rules of progress in the rules of progress configuration workbook.

  2. Check out the Rules of Progress document from the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client so that the ROP Configuration.xlsm workbook and the ROP.xml file are in an accessible location. For more information, see Configure the rules of progress in the rules of progress configuration workbook. Log on to Smart Construction as an administrator.

  3. Click Administration on the Smart Construction Standard Toolbar and select Rules of Progress Utility to open the Rules of Progress Utility window.

  4. Click the Rate Tables tab.

  5. Type the location of the ROP.xml file in the XML file box, or click to browse to the location of the rules of progress XML file.

    • If you receive a warning stating "File is not in the correct format for Rules of Progress," regenerate your Rules of Progress XML file and select the updated file.

    • To reset the file path, click Reset All on the My preferences dialog box. For more information, see Reset user preferences.

  6. Select a rate table from the Rate Table list to open rules of progress data for a specific rate table.

The component class definitions for the rate table are listed in the Component classes box.

  7. Click Analyze to analyze and load the rules of progress data into the Rules of Progress Utility.

Analyze your rules of progress data

When you click Analyze on the Rules of Progress Utility window, Smart Construction scans the project database to generate a list of unique property combinations for components matching the selected rate table.

The unique property combinations are listed in the Component property values table. The corresponding rules of progress rate table entry is listed in the Rate table entry table. Combinations not covered by a rate table entry display <No match> in the Rate table entry table.

You can group column headers in the Component property values table to better view your rules of progress data. For more information, see Group column headers in the Rules of Progress Utility.

After you analyze your rules of progress data, you can update your rules of progress to better fit your business needs. For more information, see Update your rules of progress data using the Rules of Progress Utility.
