Smart Instrumentation Version
13.1

This part of the guide describes the procedure for upgrading the Smart Instrumentation database to Version 13.1.  The purpose of the upgrade procedure is to adapt the data model of the existing database to the requirements of Version 13.1.  Smart Instrumentation database upgrade is performed in two stages.  First, you need to upgrade the Admin schema, and then open the Administration module and upgrade individually each domain that exists in the database.  If you have a database of an earlier version than the version of the current installation, you are prompted to upgrade your current database when you start the Administration module or Smart Instrumentation.

  • Upgrading to Smart Instrumentation 13.1 from versions of Smart Instrumentation prior to Smart Instrumentation 2018 requires upgrading to SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 SP1 first due to changes in the database structure.

  • If you are upgrading a large database, we recommend that your client machine should have a minimum of 8GB of RAM.

  • In this guide, whenever a string appears in brackets, type the value substituting the entire string, including the brackets.  For example: instead of <Oracle home folder>, type c:\orawin.

  • If you encounter problems during any configuration or maintenance process, contact your local Smart Instrumentation provider.  To locate your local service provider or for any other support issues, browse to the Smart Community Web Site.
