A partition is a logical or physical division of data into distinct, independent parts. Smart Instrumentation does this for isolation and manageability.
Smart Instrumentation Smart API API exposes two levels of partitions:

The Site as the primary partition, where the "Site" reflects the database.

The PlantGroup partitions where each PlantGroup represents a Domain within the site. From the PlantGroup partition you can access your plant data, including information as select lists and reports.
In EPC mode the PlantGroup partitions are the As-Built.

The service container serves as an encapsulating container to the primary partition
and it is transparent to the user.
