  1. On the File Set tab in the Main window, select a group of files to merge into a single pipeline.

  2. Click Merge to Pipeline. Alternatively, click Tools > System Builder > Merge to Pipeline.

The Merge to Pipeline dialog box displays.

  3. In the Files list, select the input piping file that has the pipeline attributes to apply to the new merged pipeline.

  4. To use the Data Stripper along with merging the input data, select Strip Pipeline and then specify the items to remove before processing begins:

    • To exclude an item from the new merged pipeline, select its checkbox. Clear the checkbox to keep the item in the file.

    • The All bore between option controls the removal of components by bore. For more information, see Remove components by bore.

    • To load a previously saved Data Stripper configuration file, click Load and navigate to the file that you want to open.

  5. In the Name box, type the full path location, including name and file extension, of the new pipeline file. Alternatively, click Browse to use the Save System As dialog box to navigate to the appropriate location, and type a name for the new pipeline. Supported file types are .pcf, .pod, and .idf.

  6. In the Label box, specify how the software is to label the processing results. By default, the software uses the current date.

  7. Select PreProcess using or PostProcess using to run a user-specified Get External Data (GED) script on each individual file in the file set before merging or on the resulting pipeline after the merge is complete. You can run one or both GED scripts.

  8. Click OK to process the input files.

The Merging Files window displays the progress of the merge process, including errors and the results of any Get External Data scripts that are run. In the example below, the pipeline generated from the merge process is outlined in red. You can click this linked file to open it in its associated application.

  9. Click OK to close the Merging Files window and return to the I-Tools Main window.

  • To view processing results, click the Results tab in the Main window.

  • If you run any GED scripts, the software writes pre-processing results to the GED_I-Tools_PreProcess.log file and post-processing results to the GED_I-Tools_PostProcess.log file. Both files are saved to the TEMP folder on the local computer.
