To use this functionality, you must install the Construction module.

You can create one or more custom collision sets that can be run on a selected object or display set.

  1. Click Tools > Collision Detection > Edit Collision Set.

  2. Click the Type Filter tab.

  3. In the Collision set name box, type in a name.

Single tick marks ( ' ) are not allowed in the name.

  4. Under Collision types, select All types or Selected types.

  5. Click the Selection tab. You can select display sets or a single graphic object for the collision run. For more information on the options in the Selection tab, see Select Objects and Range.

    • Smart Review uses the selected object or display sets when you run collision detection using this collision set. However, if you select a different object or display set from the Main view before running collision detection, then that selection overwrites or is used instead of the one you set up in the Selection tab.

    • You can run collision detection on a display set as you move it using Tools > Collision Detection > Detect on Move. You can use the keyboard to move a display set or create a display set animation. For more information, see Detect Collisions after You Move a Display Set.

  6. Set options in the remaining tabs to further refine your collision set, and then click OK.

    Select Filters for Collision Types
    Select Graphic Element Types
    Select Collision Display Colors
    Select Collision Sounds

  7. To run collision detection using this collision set, click Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Collisions.

Smart Review displays the Detect Collision dialog box.

    • If you have the Detect on Move command enabled, then collision detection is automatically being run.

    • Collision detection for a custom collision set does not run if you do not select or associate a display set or object (see step 5).

  8. Select your new collision set from the menu list, and then click Detect.

  9. Click Show Details if you want to see the collision report. For more information, see View Collision Reports.

    • If you choose Selected types, you can select specific filters for the collision detection process. The software only reports the types of collisions that you specify.

    • Click Element or Object in the Report section of the Detect Collisions dialog box to change the granularity of the report. Selecting Element for the report type typically generates a longer list of collisions because it shows every colliding element.
