Smart Review Version
2020 (15.0)

Smart Review supports .zvf files. The current view determines which .vue files are loaded. A .zvf file contains an .svf project file with multiple .vue files. The .zvf file can be used in the following ways within Smart Review:

  • SmartPlant Foundation decompresses the .zvf file project into the .zip file versions of the .svf project so they can be streamed remotely from the SPF server to Smart Review using the SmartPlant Foundation View in SmartPlant Review command. For more information, see Review a 3D Model in Streaming Mode.

  • When you open a .zvf file that has been saved from a connected SmartPlant Foundation or SDx Operations server, Smart Review automatically attempts to reconnect to that server. This allows you to see the latest property data and 2D drawings. Only .zvf files that are open or exported from an SPF/SDx session can be connected to a server. For more information, see Export > Project.

The .vue files contained in a .zvf project are designed to work within the .zvf project. If the .vue files get separated from the .zvf project, issues occur such as missing label data properties.

  • The .zvf files do not retain their original source file name information. The only way to associate label data with the source files is by using common file names and folder locations.

  • The .zvf project folder contains only the .drv/.xml files related to that .zvf. Smart Review searches the same folder as the .zvf for any .drv/.xml files to create a label database (.mdb2) file to use with the .zvf.

  • Always create .zvf files into different folders than the source file. Smart Interop Publisher automatically translates .zvf files into a subfolder.

  • You cannot use the same folder for the .zvf project as the input folder.

  • The project (.mdb) and label databases (.mdb2) cannot be shared between the source file and the output .zvf file.

  • The project database (.mdb) for a .zvf file only works with that .zvf. The project database created for the .vue file only works with that .vue file.

Open the ZVF

  1. Click File > Open. If you do not have the .mdb2 label database file, there are no properties that can be displayed.

  2. Select the .zvf file, and then click Open.

    Smart Review displays the model.

If the .zvf file was saved from a connection to a SmartPlant Foundation or SDx Operations server, Smart Review automatically connects to that server to receive property data and associated 2D drawing documents. The Connected to Web server successfully message displays in the Status bar.

  3. (Optional) For Smart 3D server access, you must connect to the same model contained in the .zvf file. For more information, see Connect to a Smart 3D Server.

If you are using a .zvf file that was generated from a Smart Review project, and require information such as display sets, display set animations, measurements, and comments from that original Smart Review, use the Import commands. For more information, see:

To update .zvf files from Smart Interop Publisher, you must update the .zvf in Smart Interop Publisher, delete the Smart Review-generated sub-folder, and then open the updated .zvf file in Smart Review.
