Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Collisions

You can generate a single collision detection run on an animation path to see all collisions that occur as the display set moves along the path.

  1. Use commands in the Animation > Display Sets menu to create your display set animation. For step-by-step details, see Create a Display Set Animation.

  2. Click on the animation path.

  3. Click Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Collisions.

The Detect Collision dialog box displays. For more information on the options, see Detect Collisions Dialog Box.

  4. Use either the Default Collision Set or a custom collision detection set.

  5. Click Detect.

Smart Review highlights and places a wireframe box around the primary display set in the Main view. A collision run is generated and the number of collisions displays in the Total field.

  • Use the Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Objects Only command to detect just the first element of an object, and then move on to the next collision. This limits the number of collisions that are found and improves overall system performance.

  • You can also detect collisions by stepping down an animation path using commands on the Animation Player in combination with the Detect after Move command. For more information, see Detect Collisions after You Move a Display Set.

  • The Detect Along Move command is not supported when using the animation player.
