Smart Review Version
2020 (15.0)

Provides options for more sophisticated scenarios of Smart Review, such as fine tuning stereo glasses.

Options

Perspective

Specifies whether to display the view using perspective rendering or orthographic rendering. Perspective rendering is characterized by:

  • Objects being drawn smaller as their distance from the observer increases.

  • The size of object dimensions along the line of sight are smaller relative to the dimensions across the line of sight.

  • When cleared, the option causes the model to display in orthographic mode. In Plan and Elevation views, the view cone changes to a box rendering as shown below:

If you are in perspective mode and the Allow fly-to behaviors option is set, Smart Review performs a fly-to transition to orthographic mode. The view cones in the Plan and Elevation views update during the transition. Also, Smart Review performs a fly-to transition to the previously-saved perspective angle. If you do not have a perspective angle defined, Smart Review switches back to the default 56 degree angle. The view cones in the Plan and Elevation views update during the transition. For more information, see Display Tab (Motion Settings Dialog Box),

Time display

Shows the time that it takes to update the Main view. The update time appears in the Text view.

Anti-alias

Turns on anti-alias display to provide a smoother image of objects in the Main view. By default, this option is not active. When enabled, the Anti-alias value is at the maximum level 4 setting. The anti-aliasing display provides a quality image at a slower performance rate. Turn off the option if you require faster navigation and display performance.

The software does not support Anti-alias if you have enabled Ambient Occlusion or Outlining (with a width of value of 1) view settings.

Stroking tolerance

Defines the stroking tolerance for round surfaces such as pipes, reducers, valves, and so on. The larger the tolerance, the better the display quality. However, large tolerance values increase the view update time. The tolerance must be an integer between 4 and 100. For faster updates, the recommended tolerance is 16. For the highest quality update, the recommended tolerance is 100.

Stereo

Activate

Enables stereo viewing. See the Smart Review Installation Guide for system requirement and supported hardware for using this option. For more information, see View in Stereo.

  • Stereo viewing is available in the full product and the Photo-Realism module.

  • Set your video driver to Stereo interlaced mode before you run Smart Review.

  • If the Stereo option is disabled, verify that Stereo Display is selected in the Advanced Video Attributes dialog box in the Video Configuration application in Control Panel.

  • If the Stereo option on the Advanced tab is not available, make sure your video driver is set to stereo. In some driver versions/configurations, the menu selection may be available, even when the stereo is not enabled on the driver.

  • You do not have to remove stereo glasses when switching between stereo mode and regular mode. Smart Review automatically switches to regular mode when you select a menu command or dialog box.

Eye separation

Specifies the actual distance between your eyes in model units. Typically, this value is about 2.2 inches or 5.6 centimeters. A larger value exaggerates the effect, while a smaller value reduces the effect. An accurate value produces realistic depth perception. This option only effects stereo viewing.

Focal length

Specifies the distance to the selected object. The f distance is the point at which objects are level with the screen. For example, closer objects appear to be coming out of the screen and objects that are further away appear to be behind the screen. This option only effects stereo viewing.

Aspect

Displays the value for the ratio of the Main view window width to height (X to Y value) at the time that the view was saved. However, when the view is recalled, the aspect ratio is that of the current view. The aspect ratio is not saved or restored.

Fit options

The following options work in conjunction with the Near and Far clipping plane distances or values in the View Cone tab of the View Settings dialog box.

  • Clear clipping distances - Sets the Near and Far clipping plane options to none. This is the default setting. Use this option if you do not want any model clipping to be done during a Fit operation.

  • Keep clipping distances - Uses the defined Near and Far clipping values for all fit operations. Use this option when you know that the near and far clipping values you have set are correct and are specific to the types of Fit operations you are using.

  • Offset using clipping distances - Uses the defined Near and Far clipping values as an offset or buffer for all Fit operations. Use these options if you have established a specific workflow where you need to make sure that the fitted data range is as visible as possible. If there is a Near clipping value and no Far clipping value, then the eye point is backed away from the fitted range by the Near clipping distance value. If there is a Far clipping distance, then the clipping range is centered on the fitted range. It provides a buffer around the fitted object. There is no adjustment if you defined only the Far clipping distance.

  • Auto-set clipping distances - Clears any defined near and far clipping values, and uses new clipping distances set by Smart Review to automatically clip to the fitted range. Use this option if you want Smart Review to calculate the clipping distance for you, and set the Near and Far values. This option is useful when using the Find feature with the Fit to Object option enabled so that you can see specific model data.
