Project Manager > Project Files > Find Differences

When you run the Find Differences command, the resulting display sets showing the differences get generated in the Project Manager. You can filter the resulting Find Differences view by selecting the .vue, .svf, or the graphics project files that make up each .vue file in the Project Manager before running the command. This allows you to refine your comparison so that, for example, you can see only what has changed in a specific area.

Set up Your Filter and Find Differences

  1. Make sure you have loaded an .svf project containing at least two .vue files of the same model data to compare. The example used throughout this workflow is an example .svf project called Compare Refining Areas.svf consisting of two files exported from Smart 3D: refining area new.vue and refining area old.vue.

  2. To open the Project Manager, click View > Controls > Project Manager.
    OR
    Press ALT+0.

  3. Select the Project Files folder.

The software lists all the internal model files making up each loaded .vue file in the list view pane. In the refining area example, the model files represent the available object disciplines in the Smart 3D .vue files.

  4. Select one or more new, old, or corresponding new and old model files in the list view, and then right-click and select Find Differences.

The example shows all the OLD refining area project files selected.

Smart Review runs the comparison, and then shows the display sets that pertain to the selected files in the Find Differences folder. The Main and other open views are updated to reflect the differences.

  5. You can clear or select display sets to show or hide the changed objects, and use other display set commands to manipulate the view as required. You can select different project files and run Find Differences at any time.

  6. To turn off Find Differences:

    • Select the Find Differences folder in Project Manager, and right-click to clear Material.

      -OR-

    • To remove the display sets, select the Find Differences folder and right-click Delete.
