Enables you to specify the rule type (relation rule or single component rule) and define the rule components. Rule components can be either filters created in Filter Manager or item types available in Smart Electrical (except for reference data item types). A filter allows you to specify an extensive class of item types to which the rule applies. When creating a relation rule, you specify a pair of rule components. When creating a single component rule, you specify only one rule component. Also, you can change the rule type of a rule for which you already defined consistency criteria.

You must define rule components to be able to open the Consistency tab.

Component 1

Enables you to specify the first rule component and set or change the rule type.

Filter or item type

Displays the first rule component. Select Browse to select a component.

Browse

Opens the Select Rule Component Dialog, where you can select the first rule component for a relation rule, or a single component if you create a single component rule. A rule component can be an item type or a specific filter that applies to an item type.

Single component

Enables you to set or change the rule type. When selecting this check box, you create a single component rule for the component specified in the Filter or item Type box under Component 1. A single component rules enables you to evaluate and validate consistency of the properties or property values of a specific item tag.

If you already created a relation rule and used the second rule component in logical expressions on the Consistency tab, when you clear the check box, the software prompts you to delete all logical expressions in which the second component is used.

Apply to reference data only

Allows you to create rules that only involve reference data. Rules that apply to reference data are single component rules. In Smart Electrical, these rules validate consistency of the properties or property values of a specific item tag in the Reference Data Explorer. When you select this check box, the software automatically selects the Single component check box. Also, when you select Browse, in the dialog that opens, all of the displayed item types belong to reference data.

If you clear the check box, you can create rules that only involve project data.

Component 2

Available only when the rule type is a relation rule. Enables you to specify a second rule component, which you can then use as an operand when defining logical relations in the Consistency tab.

Filter or item type

Displays the second rule component. Select Browse to select a required component.

Browse

Opens the Select Rule Component Dialog, where you can select the second rule component for a relation rule. A rule component can be an item type or a specific filter that applies to an item type.

The order of the rule components is not important. Relation rules are bi-directional. If your rule components are different, and in the Consistency tab you create a logical expression using both components as operands, the rule applies to any of the components involved in user operations in Smart Electrical.
