This procedure explains how to create a link to import electrical items to your Smart Electrical database.
-
Select File > New > Data Link .
-
In the Data Link Wizard, on the Define the Link Name page, under Link, type the link name.
-
Under Description, type a brief description of the link if needed.
-
Select Next.
-
On the Set the Import Mode page, under Import mode, accept the displayed default settings or change them if needed.See Set Import Options.
-
Select Next.
-
On the Source and Target Definition page, under Source, do one of the following:
-
From the Source table list, select a source table.
-
Select Use query and then select the query you require from the list. Select New query if you need to define a new query.
-
-
Select Data Source to preview and edit the contents of the source table or the tables defined in the selected query.
You cannot edit the data if you are previewing tables defined in a query.
-
Select Filter to define a filter condition if you want to include only specific source items from the selected table or the tables defined in the selected query. You can use the following wildcard characters in your filter: % - any combination of characters. _ (underscore) - any single character
-
Under Target, from the Target item type list, select the required target item type. You can select View Data to preview the contents of the target item type list.
-
From the Property code adaptation list, select a code adaptation suitable for the properties that will be imported by the current link. Select New Code if you need to define a new code adaptation.
-
Select Next.
-
On the Map the Fields of the Source Table and Target Item Type Properties page, select a source field and drag it to a target item type property.
Select Expand to view the page in full screen mode. Select Expand again, to continue and return the page to normal-size mode. You can only continue to the next page when the page is in normal-size mode.
-
To determine the expression that the software will display after importing the data, right-click the mapped value in the Source Field box in the Target pane and then select Expression Builder, Expression UOM, or Get Value From List depending on the type of the selected field. Build the expression as needed.
-
Select the Key check box to set the field uniqueness.
Defining a field as unique ensures that Import Manager validates the content uniqueness of the imported data in this field. Import Manager will insert or update the data according to the import mode settings. You can define a combination of field uniqueness by selecting the Key check box next to several target fields. However, you must set at least one field as unique.
In an Import Manager data link, when using a unique key which is not the Item Tag or using the Item Tag as a unique key with other unique keys, the software might insert non-Unique items.
-
Select Next.

On the Completing the Data Link Wizard page, select View to examine the data link summary information.
-
Select Finish to create the link.
