Defines the connection to the source database.
Provider
Displays the OLE DB provider for the type of data you want to access.
Data source
Displays the file path of the source file or database.
Password
Displays the password to use for authentication when you log on to the data source.
User ID
Displays the user ID to use for authentication when you log on to the data source.
Initial catalog
Displays the initial catalog information. (Applicable to MS SQL Server only.)
Integrated security
Displays the integrated security property information. (Applicable to MS SQL Server only.)
Persist security information
Displays the persist security property information. (Applicable to MS SQL Server only.)
Properties
Opens the Data Link Properties dialog, where you can modify the connection settings to the current source.
New
Opens the Data Link Properties dialog where you define a new data source.
Test
Select to attempt a connection to the specified data source. If the connection fails, ensure that the settings are correct. For example, spelling errors and case sensitivity can cause failed connections.
Preview
Opens the Source Data Window, where you can view and edit the contents of the selected source database.
