  1. Decide what layers will compose your slab and the basic properties for those layers and the slab in general. You may want to write this information down so you always know what the final slab should contain.

  4. In Microsoft Excel, open the [Product Folder]\CatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles\StructSlabGeneral.xls workbook.

  5. Select the Slab General Type sheet.

  6. Between the Start and End keywords that appear in column A, add a row to the spreadsheet. If a slab exists in the sheet that is similar to the slab that you want to define, consider copying the existing row.

  7. Enter a part number for the slab. You will use this part number to select the slab during placement, so use descriptive but short part numbers. In addition, this part number must be unique across the entire catalog.

  8. Enter a description for the slab.

  9. Enter the name rule to use for the slab.

  10. Enter the default slab priority. Valid values are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the Slab Priority sheet in the Codelist Number column.

  11. Enter the slab continuity. Valid values are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the Slab Continuity sheet in the Codelist Number column.

  12. Specify the slab composition part number that you want to use for this slab. This value is the part number that you defined on the Slab Composition Type sheet.

  13. Finish defining the attribute values for the slab. For more information about each attribute, refer to Slab General Type.

  14. Click File > Save to save your changes.

  15. Bulk load the spreadsheets into the catalog.

  • In column A of every row that you add, type the letter A to indicate to the Bulkload utility that you are adding this row of information.

  • For more information about the bulk loading, see Using the Bulkload Modes in the Reference Data Guide.
