  1. If you are selecting any points instead of typing point coordinates, create the points using Insert > Control Point, Insert > Topological Points, or other geometric construction point interfaces.

  2. Click PlaneByPositions on the Geometric Construction Palette.

  3. Type coordinate values for the origin point in the x1, y1, and z1 boxes. Optionally, click , and select a point.

  4. Type coordinate values for the second point to define the first axis in the x2, y2, and z2 boxes. Optionally, click , and select a point.

  5. Type coordinate values for the third point to define the second axis in the x3, y3, and z3 boxes. Optionally, click , and select a point.

    A preview of the plane displays. Each point is a vertex of the plane.

  6. Click Continue.

    Temporary geometry displays in the graphic view and as PlaneByPositions in the Geometric Construction Explorer.

  7. If needed, create additional geometric constructions.

  8. Click Close to return to the main command ribbon.

  • If you stop the command before clicking Finish, the software does not save the geometric constructions to the model. When you restart the command, the following message displays, giving you the option to recover the geometric constructions:

    "The previous execution of the command was not completed. Do you want to recover the 3D construction?"

    The message displays only during creation of an object and is unavailable when editing an object.

  • The geometric constructions are not saved to the model until you click Finish on the main command ribbon to create the model object.
