Pre-2007 editions of ASME Section VIII Division 2 permitted use of the Bolt Allowable Stress Multiplier, allowing operating loads on bolts equal to two to three times the standard table
allowables. Recent editions of ASME Section II Part D replace the multiplier with
prescribed bolting allowable stresses for flange design. The software uses a higher
value assigned for Bolt Allowable Stress Multiplier, but this is not recommended.
