This procedure allows you to select target and source plant groups and copy a naming convention from one item type to another. Your target and source plant groups must belong to the same type. Also, you can copy a naming convention from reference data.

  1. Select Options > Naming Conventions > Define .

  2. Beside Plant group, select Browse.

  3. Select a plant group.

  4. From the Item type list, select a target item type for copying a naming convention.

  5. Beside Item type, select the Copy from reference data check box if you want to copy naming conventions from a reference plant group.

    OR

    Clear the Copy from reference data check if you want to copy naming conventions from a plant available in the current plant structure.

  6. Select the Copy From button.

  7. On the Copy Naming Convention for Item Type dialog, select your source plant group.

    SHARED Tip Your source and target plant groups must belong to the same type within the same plant. For example, if the target group is a unit, your group type can only be another unit in the same plant.

  8. From the Source item type list, select an item type as a source for copying a naming convention.

  9. From the Naming conventions list, select one of the following:

    • All naming conventions to copy all the existing naming conventions for the item type you specified.

    • A specific convention name from which you want to copy a naming convention for the item type you specified.

  10. Select OK.

SHARED Tip To save naming convention to the database, select File > Save .
