The following table lists and describes the options for general preferences.
Software behavior after creating or duplicating an item
This option allows you to define a default preference for software response after creating or duplicating an item in Smart Electrical. The selected setting also applies when creating a new item in the Electrical Index by dragging a reference item from the Reference Data Explorer.
Open dialog after creating or duplicating an item
The following options are available:
None
Displays a created or duplicated item in the Electrical Index or the Reference Data Explorer without opening either the Item Tag or Common Properties dialog, with default values that you define in the Project-Wide Parameters window and default name that fits the item naming convention.
Common Properties
Opens the Common Properties dialog for the created or duplicated item, where users can enter the required electrical properties.
Item Tag
Opens the Item Tag dialog, where users can rename the item tag. The text can either be free text or a mask that fits the item naming convention.
When selecting the Common Properties value, if the user creates a new item that does not have a common properties form, the software behaves as if you selected the None value.
Electrical Engineer display options
These options allow you to display in the Electrical Engineer the names of associated PDB item tags and panel item tags as part of the names of buses, incomers, bus risers, panel circuits, and auxiliary contacts.
Display PDB and panel item tags with associated items in Electrical Engineer
The following options are available:
Yes
In the Electrical Engineer, displays the names of associated PDB item tags and panel item tags as part of the
names of buses, incomers, bus risers, panel circuits, and auxiliary contacts.
For example, MCC 200 / Bus A or JB-7/CKT-35.
No
In the Electrical Engineer, does not display the names of associated PDB item tags and panel item tags as part of the names of buses, incomers, bus risers, panel circuits, and auxiliary contacts.
Log file options
Allows you to set preferences for generation of various error log files. Error log files hold records of errors that occur during various operations. The software automatically records errors in the log file whenever it displays an error message referencing the appropriate log file. When an error occurs in a single operation, the software displays an error message immediately. For a batch operation, the software displays an error message on completing the batch operation process.
Activate log file generation
The following options are available:
Yes
Enables error log file generation options.
No
Disables error log file generation options.
-
Setting the preference to No only affects the recording of errors in log files; it does not prevent the software from displaying error messages.
-
If an error is caused by a violation of engineering rules, the software does not display any error message and therefore does not write any records to the relevant log file.
