On the Alternates/Options tab, you can specify alternative items to be priced by the bidder. This information can be entered at the requisition stage or inquiry stage based on requisition comments.

If an alternative item is entered at the inquiry stage, you cannot delete or change the description of this item here on the quote level even if you are the buyer.

As bidder, you cannot set the Include and Sel check boxes even if you have created a new item.

This alternates/options information is not the same as alternates for line items.

To define a new item, enter the order sequence of the alternative/optional item in the Seq field. Select the type (Alternate or Option) from the dropdown list in the Type field. Enter the description of the alternative/optional item in the Description field. Select Add or Deduct from the dropdown list in the Add/Deduct field to specify if the alternate/option would increase or decrease the original price. Enter the price of the alternative/optional item in the Price field with its currency in the Currency field. To comment on the alternate/option, you can enter any free text in the Clarification field.

If the Include check box is selected, the price of this item is considered when calculating the quote totals.

If the Sel check box is selected, this alternate/option is copied to the agreement when an agreement is created based on the quote summary.

Select the TE Rqd check box if technical evaluation is required for the alternative or optional item suggested by the bidder.

The Initiator field shows who created this alternate or option. If you create an alternate or option, Buyer is entered by default. If you create the record on behalf of the supplier, select Supplier from the drop-down list. Alternates and options created in the Portal have Initiator set to Supplier.

You can click the Send Mail button to send an email message to the responsible user to notify him about the required technical evaluation. A box opens where you can enter the email address of the responsible user.

With the project default ZP_EMT_TE you can define which email template will be used for the email message to the responsible user.
