Whenever you create a new database, whether it is a catalog or specification, you use the New dialog box to specify the type of database, the standard, and various units of measure. All the data you enter is saved to the Information table in the material database.

Click New
.
The New dialog box displays.

Specify the database type, the standard, and the required units of measure.

Click OK.
The software opens the Database window and displays the empty database.

By default, the software names the new database New Database 1.mdb. If you create additional databases during the same session, the software increments the name (New Database 2.mdb, New Database 3.mdb, New Database 4.mdb, and so on).

You can rename the database using the Save As command. For more information, see Modify the database name.

You can change database properties using the Properties dialog box. To open the dialog box, do one of the following:

Click New > Properties

Double-click the Database window status bar.
