FTR RT is the product that performs the actual indexing and search after the data is parsed. This topic contains instructions to install FTR RT.

  • If you already have a version of FTR RT on your computer, you must uninstall FTR RT, reboot the machine, and then install the new revision of FTR RT.

  • Before installing FTR, turn off User Account Control (UAC), if applicable.

  1. Insert the Full-Text Retrieval CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation does not start automatically, double-click FTRAutoPlay.exe on the CD.

  2. Click the FTR Installation link.

If the installer detects that a version of FTR is already installed on the computer, a dialog box asks if you want to remove it. Click OK to remove the previous version, or click No to exit the installation. When you remove the previous versions, the installer will prompt you to restart your computer. You should restart your computer and begin the installation again.

  3. The FTR installation wizard displays a welcome window. Click Next to continue.

  4. Read the license agreement for FTR and click Yes to accept the terms.

The license agreement is delivered as a PDF file; consequently, you must have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view the license agreement.

  5. In the Customer Information dialog box, type your user name, company name, and FTR RT serial number. Click Next.

  6. Verify the information is correct in the Registration Confirmation window and click Yes. If the information is incorrect, click No and type the correct information.

  7. Specify the installation location for FTR RT, or accept the default destination folder. Click Next.

  8. In the Setup Type dialog box, select Custom Setup to install the International Linguistics file as well as the required components; otherwise, select Typical to install only the required components.

After the installation of FTR RT is complete, you cannot install the International Linguistics file through the installer anymore. You have to uninstall FTR RT and re-install FTR RT using the Custom Setup option.

  9. Select the program folder where you want FTR to appear on your Start menu, and click Next.

  10. Specify the port number for the SearchServer Servlet Runner, or accept the default port number. Click Next.

If your environment is using SmartPlant Markup Plus Server, do not specify the same port number used by Apache Tomcat.

  11. Specify the port number for the SearchServer JDBC Driver, or accept the default port number. Click Next.

  12. On the Set Collection Creation Directory (FULCREATE) dialog box, type the full path name of the directory where you want to create collections. Click Next.

  13. On the Set Collection Search Path (FULSEARCH) dialog box, type the full path names of any additional directories for FTR to look for collections. Separate the directories with semicolons (;). Click Next.

  14. On the Set Network Search Path (FTNPATH) dialog box, type the locations where FTR should look for remote collections on other machines. Click Next.

  15. After the software copies files to your computer, click Finish to restart your computer and complete the setup.

When you finish installing FTR, you can return the UAC setting to the previous setting used prior to starting this installation (if applicable).
