You can change the transparency of the entire model so that you can see through the model to get a better look at the objects involved in a collision. Objects or display sets involved in the collision are not affected by the transparency percentage, and therefore can display more prominently in the Main view.

The steps below show you how to set change the transparency levels using the Default Collision Set. You can apply this setting when running collision detection using any custom collision set.

  1. Select an object or display set in the Main view.

  2. Click Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Collisions.

The Detect Collision dialog box displays.

  3. Select the Default Collision Set, and then click Detect.

Smart Review highlights the primary object or display set and then generates a collision detection run.

  4. Click Show Details .

  5. Move the Model Transparency slider to adjust the model rendering as required so that you can see object and display sets in the collision. The default setting is 0%, and 100% hides the entire model except for the colliding objects.

Model transparency does not apply to wireframe rendering of the model.

In the example below, a collision detection with a tank as the primary object is shown at 0%.

The next image shows the Model Transparency set to 50%.

The last image shows the Model Transparency set to 100% so that the model is hidden but the collision objects still display.

The Model Transparency setting is not saved between Smart Review sessions.

  • Model transparency percentages greater than 0% (normal rendering) override all display set visual manipulation settings with the selected transparency value. Visual settings return to normal when you close the Detect Collisions dialog box or set the slider to 0%.
