Smart Review Version

Smart Review supports .zvf files. A .zvf file is a local, compressed streaming .vue file project. The current view determines which .vue files are loaded. A .zvf file contains:

  • An .svf project file

  • Multiple .vue files

A .zvf file allows you to access a sub-set of your model data without having to load the entire model. So if the entire model data does not fit into memory, portions are still accessible. The .zvf file can be used in the following ways within SmartPlant Enterprise:

  • SmartPlant Foundation decompresses the .zvf file project into the .zip file versions of the .svf project so they can be streamed remotely from the SPF server to SmartPlant Review.

  • Smart 3D uses the .zvf file as a reference 3D file format to allow you to export and import reference external model graphics to and from a Smart 3D model database.

  • SmartPlant Publisher and Smart Interop Publisher can create .zvf files for use as reference 3D data.

When you open a .zvf file, Smart Review basically unzips the file and places the extracted files in a folder on your local computer.

  • Use the original model data instead of .zvf files whenever possible to maximize performance and data fidelity.

  • The .vue files contained in a .zvf project are designed to work within the .zvf project. We do not recommend that you use the .vue files directly, either as a single file or in an .svf project. When the .vue files get separated from the .zvf project, issues occur such as missing label data properties.

Using ZVF Project Files

  • The .zvf files do not retain their original source file name information. The only way to associate label data with the source files is by using common file names and folder locations.

  • The .zvf project folder contains only the .drv/.xml files related to that .zvf. Smart Review searches the same folder as the .zvf for any .drv/.xml files to create a label database (.mdb2) file to use with the .zvf.

  • Always create .zvf files into different folders than the source file. Smart Interop Publisher automatically translates .zvf files into a subfolder.

  • You cannot use the same folder for the .zvf project as the input folder.

  • The project (.mdb) and label databases (.mdb2) cannot be shared between the source file and the output .zvf file.

  • The project database (.mdb) for a .zvf file only works with that .zvf. The project database created for the .vue file only works with that .vue file.

Open the ZVF

  1. Make sure the .zvf file and the .mdb2 label database file generated by SmartPlant Review Publisher or Smart Interop Publisher are located in the same folder.

If you do not have the .mdb2 file, there are no labels that can be displayed in the resulting .svf project.

  2. Open Smart Review and click File > Open.

  3. Select the .zvf file and click Open.

Smart Review automatically creates the .svf project in a subfolder using the name of the .zvf file. As an example, for MadisonPlant.zvf, Smart Review creates MadisonPlantSVF.svf. If you have C:\Test|MadisonPlant.zvf, then Smart Review creates the folder C:\Test\MadisonPlant. This subfolder contains the .svf project, .mdb, .mdb2, and all .vue files.

  4. On the Create Project dialog box, click OK.

Smart Review displays the Load Files dialog box.

  5. From the Load Vue Files dialog box, select the file(s) you want to load to memory. Use the Select All command, or the SHIFT+ or CTRL+ keys to select multiple files. The .vue files selected in the display list are loaded to memory.

    Load VUE Files Dialog Box

  6. Click OK when you have finished.

Smart Review displays the model corresponding to the selected .vue files.

  7. (Optional) If you are using a .zvf file that was generated from a Smart Review project, and need information such as display sets, display set animations, measurements, and comments from that original Smart Review, use the Import commands. For more information, see:

The next time you open the .zvf file, Smart Review automatically opens its .svf project. You can open the .zvf file or open the .svf project.

If you need to update the .zvf file at any time, you must re-convert the updated .zvf from SmartPlant Review Publisher or Smart Interop Publisher, delete the Smart Review-generated sub-folder, and then open the updated .zvf file in Smart Review.
