Animation > Display Sets > Lock To Surface

Toggles on and off locking the display set position to a surface geometry (or view plane at the current depth). This is the default lock setting. When this lock is on, the display set moves along the surface of objects in its path.

  1. Click Edit > Select Filter > Display Sets.

  2. From the Project Manager or the Main view, select the display set to move.

  3. To make sure display set motion is enabled, click Motion > [Display Set Name].

  4. For the display set to move along a surface close to the display set, click Animation > Display Sets > Lock to Surface.

The surface objects automatically highlight as you move the display set over them. The highlight settings are defined by the Edit > Select Settings command. See Configure Highlight and Color Options for more information on changing the highlight settings.

  5. Drag and drop the display set to its new location.

  • If any coordinate locks are also enabled (North, East, Lock by View), then those coordinates do not change.

  • All locking toggle commands are also available in the Animation toolbar. You can look at the lock command buttons in the Animation toolbar to see the different lock states. A pressed-in button indicates the lock state is active.
