You can set default properties for each item type. For example, you can specify the default symbol for a motor that the software uses when you generate a single line diagram. Other properties include whether items of a particular type are required to have unique tags, and if so, in what plant group type those items must be unique.

A plant group type is a level of plant hierarchy. The available plant group types depend on the plant hierarchy you define in Engineering Manager. A plant group type can contain several specific plant groups. For example, a 'Unit' plant group type can contain units U1, U2, U3, and so forth.

You set the properties in the Item Types Window. It is required that you assign the item type to a plant group type prior to defining a naming convention for this item type.
