Accessories > CloudWorx > Clip Point Cloud > Slice

Defines two parallel planes in 3D along a specified axis, and then hides the points outside the two planes to create a controlled cross-section view of the point cloud.

To define a slice:

  1. Click Accessories > CloudWorx > Clip Point Cloud > Slice, and then select one of the following commands.

    • X axis - Defines two parallel planes along the X axis. The software clips out all the points outside the two planes.

    • Y axis - Defines two parallel planes along the Y axis. The software clips out all the points outside the two planes.

    • Z axis - Defines two parallel planes along the Z axis. The software clips out all the points outside the two planes.

    • Slice Forward - Moves the active slice by one step (equal to the thickness of the slice) in the positive direction along its axis. It is only effective when a slice is currently active.

    • Slice Backward - Moves the active slice by one step (equal to the thickness of the slice) in the negative direction along its axis. This command is only effective when a slice is currently active.

  2. Input data points to represent the first plane and the second plane.

The two planes form the slice and clip the points.

Use Clipping Manager to turn on or off any clipping records, or use Reset Clipping to turn off all clipping records of the active clipping group. For more information, see Clipping Manager and Reset Clipping. The current slice can be moved one step (equal to the width of the slice) forward or backward along its axis using Slice Forward and Slice Backward.
