Options Tab

Omit bolts

Causes the software to ignore any bolts that it encounters in the specification and none are created in the resultant catalogs.

Append length and diameter to description

Appends the value of the Bolt Length x Bolt Diameter to the bolt description. Isogen can truncate item to remove the length and diameter using either item code substitution or Option Switch 28.

Append length and diameter to item code

Appends the length and diameter to the bolt item code if required. This feature is particularly useful if bolts do not carry unique item codes dependent on diameter and length.

In the Smart Isometrics bolting file, the item code of the referenced bolt for a component must be unique in order for the correct bolts to be automatically assigned. If the bolts in the PDS specification are not unique dependent on diameter and length, then check his option if automatic bolt placement in Smart Isometrics is to be used.

Precise length calculation

Specifies if the PDS project uses the precise or almost precise calculation method.

Indirect bolt commodity codes

PDS also supports the option for indirect commodity codes for bolts whereby the full commodity code for a specific diameter/length of bolt is looked up in a table using the part Commodity Code from the *.pcsd file. If this option is used, select Indirect bolt commodity codes and ensure that the TDXXXXXXXX_BLT' files, which specify the size dependent bolt commodity codes, are in the SpecTabs folder. These additional bolting files contain item codes for bolts depending on the length and diameter. The bolt code is then determined from these files as the length is calculated in I-Convert.

Available Lengths Tab

Range from & Increment

Specifies the available bolt lengths and increments. I-Convert uses the range and increment when calculating the bolt length. If the software creates extra bolts as specified on the Wafer Fittings tab, bolts are created in increments up to the maximum range.

Range overrides high length in bolting file

Causes the software to use the specified range instead of the high length when calculating the length of bolt to use. By default, the software uses the high length specified in the bolting file. This option only appears if you select Indirect bolt commodity codes on the Options tab.

Wafer Fittings Tab

Connection codes

Specifies the end preparation code which identifies wafer (trapped between flanges) components. In the PDS specification, certain end preparation codes are used for wafer (trapped between flanges) fittings. If the software encounters a component with this code, it triggers a WAFER setting in the bolt file instead of the normal bolt reference calculation. I-Convert supports more than one end preparation for wafer fittings. Use a comma to separate the end preparation codes.

Number of bolts

Specifies the number of bolts required for wafer fittings. The minimum is 1 bolt.

As the software creates a bolt, n-1 additional bolts are also created at the increments specified up to the maximum length as specified on the Available Lengths tab.
