Allows you to print the active document using the Microsoft Print Manager. You can set options regarding the scale, number of copies, and orientation, as well as define labels, margins, watermarks, and stamps.

You cannot print markups that use non-SmartPlant formats.

Printer - Displays the name of the printer to which the print request will be sent. You can select another printer through the Print Setup dialog box, available by clicking the Print Setup button.

Print range - Displays a range of pages to print.

  • All - Prints all the data pages and all the defined views for the document. The output will contain duplicate pages if the file contains similar view and data pages.

The output will not contain views if the Do not print views option is enabled on the Print tab of the Detail File Viewer Options dialog box.

  • Current view - Prints the image in the active window at the current zoom level.

  • Sheets - Allows you to specify the page range to print using the From and To boxes.

  • Print within frame - Prints only items within the drawing frame. Items displaying outside the frame will not print. This option is only available for use with files using the SmartPlant format (for example, SmartSketch).

Scaling - Specifies the scale to be applied to the image when it is printed.

  • Fit to page - Modifies the print selection to make it fit on the printed page.

  • Scale - Adjusts the ratio at which files are printed. For more information about using the scaling feature, refer to Scaling Factors for SmartPlant Markup Plus.

    0

    Fits the image to page.

    1

Prints the image the same size as on the screen.

    2

Prints the image twice the size as on the screen.

  • Print to scale - Allows you to print the image (drawing) to a specified scale by indicating the scale factors to be used when transferring the image to paper. Use the corresponding fields to specify the number of units that will appear in the specified space. For example, you can indicate that a circle ten inches in diameter will be scaled to two inches of space on paper. These settings will result in a circle five inches in diameter on paper. You may select any combination of image units (inches, feet, mm, cm, meters, kilometers, and so forth) per paper units (inches, mm).

Print quality - Select the resolution at which you want to print the active file. The higher the resolution the greater the number of dots that appear per inch on the printed document. If you are using non-SmartPlant formats, the value defaults to the printer's current setting.

Copies - Specifies the number of copies you want to print.

Print in pure black and white - Indicates whether the file will be printed in black and white or whether the colors embedded in the drawing or document will appear in the printed copy.

Print with markups - Indicates whether markup elements added to the document will appear in the printed copy.

Print markups in color - Indicates whether the markup elements appear in their applicable color in the printed copy.

Print Setup - Opens the Print Setup dialog box, which allows you to configure printer settings, such as the size and source of the page and the orientation of the printed page.

Margins - Allows you to set the margins for the left, right, top, and bottom of the printed page from the Margins dialog box.

Labels - Opens the Labels dialog box, which allows you to build standard or custom footers and headers for the printed document.

Watermark - Opens the Watermark dialog box, which allows you to add custom or standard watermarks to the printed copy of the drawing or document.

Stamps - Allows you to create stamps and add them to the printed pages.

Annotations - Opens the Annotations dialog box, where you indicate how text annotations will be printed.

  • When using SmartPlant Markup Plus in conjunction with Directa, you may not have access to the Watermark and Labels buttons on this dialog box. User security rights within Directa determine what you can see and change in SmartPlant Markup Plus. For example, if you are working with a SmartSketch file and you have administrator or super user privileges assigned, you can access watermarks and labels. These rules do not apply to non-SmartPlant file formats.

  • For more information about using objects to assign watermark and label information to documents, refer to the Directa User's Guide.
