String Size

  • Commands cannot be longer than 31 characters.

  • String evaluations cannot be longer than 64 characters.

  • Prompts cannot be longer than 40 characters.

  • Expressions cannot be longer than 80 characters.

  • File names cannot be longer than 64 characters.

  • Material grade names cannot be longer than 24 characters.

  • Material names cannot be longer than 32 characters.

  • Variable names cannot be longer than 24 characters.

  • Messages in pml_msg.md cannot be longer than 75 characters.

  • Records cannot be longer than 1024 characters.

  • Section names cannot be longer than 32 characters.

  • Section names cannot contain a double-quote ["] character. If you need a double-quote character in the section name, use two single-quote ['] characters instead.

  • Tutorial cell names cannot be longer than 6 characters.

  • Element names cannot be longer than 24 characters.

  • Element user attribute names cannot be longer than 32 characters.

Looping

  • While loops can be nested up to 10 deep.

  • Do loops can be nested up to 10 deep.

  • Nesting between Do, If and While structures is allowed.

IF Structures

  • IF structures cannot be nested and only relational operators can be used.

Assemblies And Groups

  • The maximum number of nested assemblies is 3.

  • The maximum number of nested groups is 6.

  • The combined maximum number of nested assemblies and groups is 6.

  • The combined maximum number of assemblies and groups is 50.

Copying

  • The maximum number of elements to be copied with new assembly numbers at one time is 50.

  • If no new assembly numbers are specified, there is no limitation.

Element Vertices

  • The maximum number of vertices per area/hole element is 50.

  • The maximum number of vertices per volume element is 95.

Expression Precedence

  • The maximum number of expression precedence is 50.

Tutorial Field Numbers

  • Field numbers 1 through 199 are reserved for users.

  • Field 200 is reserved for the tutorial error messages.

  • Field 201 is reserved for the tutorial header.

  • Field 202 is reserved for the place and refresh graphics utilities.

  • Field 203 is reserved for the tutorial prompts.

  • Field 204 is reserved for the rotation about the x-axis utility.

  • Field 205 is reserved for the rotation about the y-axis utility.

  • Field 206 is reserved for the rotation about the z-axis utility.

  • Field 207 is reserved for the define rotation angle utility.

  • Field 208 is reserved for the define distance by two points utility.

Invoking Different Tutorials

  • Every issuance of a Tutor command invokes and brings up a tutorial. There are no limits to the number of tutorials that can be invoked in a single PML program.
