Import Manager allows you to set your default import options prior to creating import links and running import. This way, you can create your links without the need to redefine the settings that determine how Import Manager handles the source and target data. You can set the default import mode, include or exclude calculation values, define the source data, define the default paths where the software saves the link XML and log files.

  1. Select Tools > Options.

  2. On the Options dialog, select the General tab.

  3. Under Default database import link XML file, select to select the default link XML file.

  4. Under Default import log file, select to select the default import log file.

  5. In the Default import mode group box, under Update options, define how you want the software to overwrite the values in the target properties:

    • Select Update all target properties to update all the target properties by overwriting the values in the target properties with the source values and also by writing data in empty target properties.

    • Select Update only target properties without values to update only those target properties that do not contain any values.

  6. Under Miscellaneous, do one of the following:

    • Select Do not insert new records to overwrite the existing target data according to the key selections in the Data Link Wizard without inserting new source records.

    • Clear the Do not insert new records check box to insert new source records and to overwrite the existing target records with the source data according to the key selections in the Data Link Wizard.

  7. Select the Data Source tab.

  8. Select New to define a new data source or select Properties to edit the displayed data source definitions.

  9. Use the Data Link Properties wizard to define the source data as required.

Running the data link creates and calculates related data for imported properties.

  10. Select Apply.

  • Select Test to check to test the connection to the source database.

  • Select Preview to open the Source Data window where you can view and modify the source data.
