A heat number is an identification number that is stamped on a material after it is rolled at a steel mill. Heat number is similar to a lot number and is used to identify production runs of any product for quality control purposes.

You can assign an Inventory heat number in Smart Materials to an ident or use Attached heat numbers in Smart Materials.

Inventory heat number is associated with a line item and is captured as part of inventory.

Attached heat numbers are also associated with an item, but will not reflect in inventory.

In MobileScan, you must set the project default ZC_ATT_HT to Y to enable attached heat number functionality. The project default ZC_ATT_HT takes the following values:

N - heat number is assigned to the inventory.

Y - enables attached heat number functionality. Heat number is attached to the line items but will not be reflected in the inventory.

Behavior when ZC_ATT_HT set to Y

In Receive, you can assign a heat number for each scan in the Attached Heat Number field. The heat numbers are saved as attached heat numbers to the scanned line item in Smart Materials. For more information on Heat Numbers or Attached Heat Numbers, see Smart Materials Site Help.

In Issue, the Attached Heat Number is a searchable field and the application displays heat numbers associated with line item from MRRs dynamically. You can either type a new heat number or select a heat number from the list.

Irrespective of the project default value, in the line item details page of both Receive and Issue, only the inventory heat numbers are displayed.
