You can use Free Inventory to scan items that are found in the warehouse but are not part of either a MRR, a release note, or a purchase order. You can also assign information such as warehouse, location, quantity, heat number, and damaged to each item scanned.

In the Free Inventory Scan, if the scanned barcode is a valid material associated with the signed in project, then the MobileScan application updates the location information in the database.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Free Inventory.

  2. Enter the following information:

Warehouse - Specifies the warehouse where the item needs to be stored. MobileScan displays the warehouses based on the following ZC_BIN_LOC project default values:

    WHTU

Displays all the warehouses assigned to the signed in user.

    BLOC

Displays all the warehouses irrespective of the signed in user.

For more information on bin locations and ZC_BIN_LOC project default, see the Smart Materials Site Help.

Location - Specifies the location in the warehouse where the item needs to be stored.

Quantity - Specifies the item quantity.

Description - Specifies the description of the item.

Heat # - Specifies the heat number.

Damage - Specifies if the item is damaged.

  3. Select Damage to specify the item is damaged.

  4. Scan the item.

If you manually key-in the barcode using the keyboard, you must press Enter key after typing the barcode.

  5. Repeat steps from 2 through 4 to scan more items.

The Maximum FIS value in the Settings screen defines the maximum number of items you can scan. Tap to submit the scans, before you can scan more items. If you try to scan more items, the application displays an error message and also, the mobile vibrates.

Mobile Scan > Free Inventory > Maximum FIS Error Msg

  6. Tap to submit.
