Purpose

This section explains how to prepare a specification for building assemblies.

Exercise

  1. Open the S.50.01 Specification Rules screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.50 Specification menu branch.

  2. Click the Enter Query button to change to query mode, select SDB_SPEC_R from the LOV in the Rule field, and click the Run Query button to display the selected specification rule with its details.

  3. Go to the third (Attributes) block, and click the New Record button to create a new record.

  4. Enter the next available highest number (for example, 14) in the Seq field, select ASS_NO from the LOV in the Attr Name field, select ITEM from the dropdown list in the Level field, and select ATTR_NUM3 from the LOV in the Physical field.

  5. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  6. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  7. Open the S.50.20 Wallthickness Geometrics screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.50 Specification menu branch.

  8. Enter FILTER-FLG-ASS in the Geometric field, select P_WT_1NPS_1SCH from the LOV in the Tablename field, and select ANSI from the LOV in the Standard field.

  9. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  10. Click the Next Block button to open Window 2.

  11. Enter the geometric details in the NPS1 and SCH1 fields according to the following list:

  12. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  13. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  14. Open the S.50.06 Specification Management screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.50 Specification menu branch.

  15. Click the Enter Query button to change to query mode, select TRAIN_1CS150 from the LOV in the Spec Code field, and click the Run Query button to display the selected specification with its details.

    The TRAIN_1CS150 specification was created in the ā€˜Create a Specificationā€™ tutorial. See Create a Specification.

  16. Click in a new record on the Spec Header Geometric tab, select ASS-FLG from the LOV in the Short Code field, select User defined from the LOV in the Table Type field, select FILTER-FLG-ASS from the LOV in the Table Name field, and enter .5 in the From1 field and 24 in the To1 field.

  17. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  18. Click the Next Block button to open Window 2.

  19. Create the specification items for the assembly and the assembly items according to the list below.

    Enter the sequence in the Seq field, and then select the short code from the LOV in the Short Code field, the group code from the LOV in the Group field, the part code from the LOV in the Part field, and the commodity code from the LOV in the Commodity Code field. Enter the size range in the From1 and To1 fields.

  20. For the gaskets, select the geometric that has a relation to the commodity code from the LOV in the Geom1 field.

  21. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  22. For each of the assembly items, click the Next Block button to open Window 3, where you can check the available idents.

  23. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.
