Mapping configuration plays a vital role in importing data from the attached XML files. A mapping configuration specifies the meaning of a XML tag in CMS terminology. A mapping of XML tags to CMS names is created and saved with a name. This name is specified in the job as a parameter so that this specific mapping is used by the import job when importing data from the XML file.

The job detail dialog box has a section called “Mapping Configuration”. You can specify the name of the mapping configuration to be used while importing structure data and while importing component data. The mapping configuration supplied in the Structure field is used for the file that has been attached to the job with the content type “STRUCTURE." For more information, see Attach or remove XML files for import.

Similarly, the mapping configuration supplied in the Article field is used for the file that has been attached to the job with the content type “ARTICLE”.

Each of these fields has two buttons. The “…” button opens the Selection list LOV to allow you to choose a valid mapping configuration. The adjacent button displays the Mapping Configuration Detail window, which allows you to view the details of the mapping configuration in use.
