Once the commodity codes are created, they are linked to the geometric tables to generate idents. The geometric tables contain the size and schedule information. The ident geometrics are maintained under Commodity Geometrics.

The figure below provides an overview of commodity and ident relationships:

The figure below illustrates the process of building idents:

Build Idents

  1. Click SRD > XS10 Component Manager > XS1010 Commodity/Ident Management.

  2. Select Commodity Group/Part/Commodity Code from the list.

  3. Navigate down through the hierarchy, and double-click a commodity code to open the grid.

SHARED Tip To navigate to the Company Idents page, right click Commodity Code and select Company Idents.

  4. Click the Idents tab at the bottom of the grid.

  5. In the Preparation section, click Assign code with object.

  6. Type an object code, or browse to select an object code.

  7. Click Save SaveGrid on the toolbar.

  8. Click Assign code with geometric, and then click ellipses Ellipses 8.3.

  9. Click Matched Geometrics.

SHARED Tip Matched Geometrics displays only those geometrics that match with the selected Objectparameter.

  10. Select Geometric from the list and then click OK.

  11. To save the selected geometric as an Ident Geometric, click Ident Geometric and then click Save SaveGrid.

If Matched Geometrics is not selected in Step 9, then all the geometrics appear. If you select a geometric that does not match with the Objectparameter, then you cannot make that geometric as an Ident Geometric.

  12. In the New idents section, click Show new idents.

  13. Do one of the following:

    • Filter the view as needed (for example, filter the nominal piping size To value to specify a range), and then click Build selected idents.

    • Click Build all idents.
