Specification revision handling is an important feature that enables you to modify specifications during project work without disturbing the people who are already using the specifications.

Specification revision handling allows you to issue a specification. An issued specification is frozen against further modification. Freezing a specification is important in cases where specifications must be approved, for example, in a project where the client approves the specification, or the specification is delivered to an engineering office for design.

If an issued specification must be modified later, you can create a revision for it. A revised specification initially is a copy of the last issued specification. After creating the revision, you can modify the specification.

You can also publish a specification. When you publish a specification that is not issued, the specification automatically becomes issued as well as active.

Revision handling is available on the Cover page of a specification.
