The Splice Assembly Connection node (the SpliceAsmConn sheet in the StructAssemblyConnections.xls workbook) defines the splice assembly connections that you can place using the Place Assembly Connection Command in the Structure task.

These assembly connections connect two collinear members using web and flange plates. The members must also have the same section and be oriented in the same direction.

Name

Specifies the name of the assembly connection. This is the name that appears in the interface when you are placing the assembly connection.

Clearance

Specifies the distance between the ends of the members.

Symmetry

Enter the symmetry code for the splice assembly connection. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructAlignment sheet in the Codelist Number column. This controls how to cut back the member ends when the clearance value is not zero. Select the Center code to specify that both members should be cut back equally. Select the Right code to specify that the first member that you selected be cut back. Select the Left code to specify that the second member that you selected be cut back.

Splice With

Enter the splice type code for the splice assembly connection. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructACSpliceTypes sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Web Plates

Enter the web plate position code for the splice assembly connection. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructACLeftRightBoth sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Gage Distance 1

Specifies the distance from the flange gage line.

Gage Distance 2

Specifies the distance from the web gage line.

Sizing Rule

Enter the sizing rule code for the splice assembly connection. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructACSizingRule sheet in the Codelist Number column. If you select By Rule, then the software sizes the plate based on the gage distances.

Thickness 1

Specifies the thickness of the flange plates.

Length 1

Specifies the length of the flange plates.

Width 1

Specifies the width of the flange plates.

Category 1

Enter the plate category code for the flange plates. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructCustomPlatePartType sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Type 1

Enter the plate type code for the flange plates. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructCustomPlatePartType sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Thickness 2

Specifies the thickness of the web plates

Length 2

Specifies the length of the flange plates.

Width 2

Specifies the width of the flange plates.

Category 2

Enter the plate category code for the web plates. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructCustomPlatePartType sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Type 2

Enter the plate type code for the web plates. Valid codes are listed in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the StructCustomPlatePartType sheet in the Codelist Number column.

Material

Defines the plate material type. The value that you enter here should match a value in the MaterialType column on the Material sheet in the AllCommon.xls workbook.

Grade

Defines the plate material grade. The value that you enter here should match a value in the MaterialGrade column on the Material sheet in the AllCommon.xls workbook.
