Calculates the clearances and tolerance for the gap between outer edges of the outfitting item that penetrates the structure. You can use clearance rules for single and multiple hole traces.

Smart 3D Hole Management enables you to select different hole clearance rules for different intersection types. The following clearance rules are available in the Hole Clearance Rule box on the Single Hole ribbon.

  • AccomBestFit

  • AccomBestFitWtolerance

  • AccomBestFitNoIntersection

  • BestFitClearanceRule1

  • MatchBestRules

The following class modules are included in the C#.NET project:

BestFitClearance.cs

General best-fit clearance rules.

Computes clearances for cableway, conduit, duct, and pipe. Computes clearances based upon flanges, sleeves, or unreinforced holes. You can customize these clearances.

AccomodateBestFitNoIntersect.cs

Creates hole traces where the outfitting penetrates the structure at an existing opening.

In the example below, the red circle represents the hole trace output and is placed at the opening. The software does not allow a hole cut operation.

AccommodateBestFitNoIntersect

AccomodateBestFitWithTolerance.cs

Uses a tolerance value to determine whether the hole trace intersects with its structure and whether the hole trace size, extended by the tolerance value, intersects the selected structure.

In the example below, the red circle represents the hole trace output and is placed at the opening. The software does not allow a hole cut operation. If the hole trace falls within 10 mm of the selected structure, it is valid.

MachineryBestFit.cs

Example set of best-fit clearance rules for machinery spaces. The values are four times the values of BestFitClearance.cs. You can customize these clearances.
