  • Concurrent Engineering is now supported for claiming and merging project data in the Web Client. For more information, see Concurrent Engineering. (CR-AM-156081, CR-AM-148926, CR-AM-149293, CR-AM-149298, CR-AM-149299, CR-AM-155059)

    Tell me more

Concurrent Engineering is a core capability of SmartPlant Foundation. With Update 12, key functionalities are now available inside the Web Client. If you've been using concurrent engineering in the past in the Desktop Client, you can now move users to the modern Web Client.

    The Web Client now supports:

    • Claiming and unclaiming items using a new Claim Board and Claim screen

    • Conflict Resolution, complete new screen in the Web Client

    • Merge Configurations including user notifications for long-running merge operations

We are committed to further enhance the concurrent engineering user experience - it is a key part of the future of our design tool integration.

  • You can now mark up Hexagon PPM 3D model file types using snapshots in the View and Markup window. For more information, see Work with markups for Hexagon 3D models. (CR-AM-119439)

    Tell me more

You can now create and save snapshots of a 3D model. Snapshots are a great way for users to capture, share and reuse relevant views of the model. The markup capabilities provide a system-controlled way to add redlining and collaborate – all centrally managed and controlled by the system.

Snapshots are a new type of object in the database, and they are controlled by owning groups, which allows you to control who can edit or see snapshots.

After taking snapshots, you can open them in the Snapshot Gallery. Using the Snapshot Gallery, you can do the following:

    • Take snapshots (with the appropriate permissions)

    • View and filter a list of existing snapshots for the open model, as well as the number of existing markup layers per snapshot

    • Delete and terminate existing snapshots (with the appropriate permissions)

    • View the metadata of each snapshot

    • Open a snapshot to add or manage markup layers and redlining elements

    • Navigate back to the exact position in the 3D model where the snapshot was originally taken.

  • We've improved our Reports feature set to make it configurable and better organized. (CR-AM-149816, CR-AM-152116, CR-AM-155400, CR-AM-155746)

    Tell me more

Grouping all the reports under the reports feature set was confusing and made it difficult to find the relevant report. We've made this better:

    • A report can be related to multiple feature sets.

    • The Reports feature set is now configurable like any other feature set. You can configure who can access the Reports feature set, and you can group reports in the feature set.

    • You can now relate ad hoc reports to a feature set and group them to make it easier to access the relevant report and better organized.

    Reports and feature sets

  • You can now create reports that run in the background of the Web Client, allowing you to work on other Web Client features while your report processes. For more information, see Configure a saved ad hoc report to run in background mode. (CR-AM-152105, CR-AM-152956, CR-AM-153396, CR-AM-154202, CR-AM-154866)

    Tell me more

Sometimes executing large data reports takes time and a lot of resources. These large data reports might cause you to consume extra tokens because of the report timing out due to browser limitations, or you might be forced to wait for these reports to execute before moving on to other work. We've made this better.

Now, you can configure an ad hoc report to be run in the background from the Web Client. Only Excel (openXml) format reports are supported. Once configured, you can trigger a background report to execute from the Web Client. You can continue to use the Web Client to complete other work while the report is running, and you'll be notified once the report has been completed.

    Background Reports

  • You can now insert historic revisions into a selected document revision. For more information, see Insert a historical revision. (CR-AM-131172)

  • A new validation rule, Check Properties Against Classification, checks to see if the target property definitions are valid for the target object classification, based on the attribution (column sets) configured in the target system for the classification, including whether mandatory properties are present. For more information, see Validation rules and actions. (CR-AM-156461, CR-AM-152106)
