Used to find a pipe from the given seed point. The points around the seed point are used to start the search, growing into a pipe. If successful, a construction line representing a pipe is created.
The construction lines are managed in Workspace Explorer under Point Cloud Graphics filter.
To fit a pipe using pick points
-
Select CloudWorx > Fit Point Cloud > Pipe.
A dialog is displayed until the command is cleared (with right-click).
The Maximum RMS Error box displays the sampling error of the original point cloud. If the fit quality does not meet this number, the fit is rejected.
-
Place the cursor on the point cloud as the seed point to grow a pipe. The seed point should be chosen in a clear smooth area of the pipe. When using a CloudWorx command, you do not need to use CTRL+SHIFT keys to pick point cloud. If not successful, you are prompted with a message in the status bar: Failed to find a pipe. If successful, a construction line is created and added to Point Cloud Graphics filter. The name of the pipe has following format (for distinguishing):
-
Pipe_Dxxx_Lyyy, where xxx is the diameter in millimeters, yyy is the length of the pipe in millimeters.
-
This is a recursive command. You can pick again to grow another pipe. To stop the command, right-click.
-
To connect pipes
-
Use Connect Pipes to connect two pipes which extends and adjusts the pipe centerlines to be connected. For more information, see Connect Pipes.
