j5 Version

A license file is used to control the access and installation of the j5 system. It defines which server machine the j5 system can be installed on, the number of users that can be logged on simultaneously (known as the number of seats) and a license validity period.

For demo purposes a license is not required. In demo mode the j5 system will allow a single connection. This is particularly useful if you would like to evaluate the j5 system.

The Licenses page displays all license information relevant to the j5 system, and also provides access to the machine code that is used to issue new licenses (also accessible from the command prompt, see below for details).

In addition, you will also see a list of active user sessions, including additional information on their license usage.

Get the machine code from the command prompt

To get your j5 Operations Management Solutions server's machine code without running the j5 services:

  1. Open a command prompt window.

  2. Copy and paste the following into it and hit enter:

    "c:\Program Files (x86)\j5\framework\bin\PythonPrompt.exe" -m sjsoft.License.LicenseInfo

    The machine code is displayed.
