In order to keep the standby server in sync with the production server, any upgrade or patch applied to the j5 system on the production server must also be applied to the standby server. This can be done as follows:

Take all normal steps in preparation for an upgrade, e.g. backing up the production database and notifying users that the system will be unavailable.

Stop the production service.

Apply the updates to the production server.

Restart the production service.

If the upgrade is successful:

Apply the updates to the standby server.

If backup/restore is used:
-
Backup the production server database.
-
Restore the backup to the standby server.

The standby server is not available for failover until its upgrade is complete.
