j5 Version

An OPC data source is configured on the OPC Connection page. j5 supports both OPC DA (real-time data access) and OPC HDA (historical data access).

  • Convert Boolean Values: When True, the boolean values are converted to integer (0 and 1) so aggregates can be calculated.

  • Ignore OPC Timestamp: When True, the timestamp that OPC specifies is ignored, and the time the event arrives at j5 is used as the time.

  • Ignore Time Bias: OPC gives an optional time bias, which can be used to calculate the UTC time when configured correctly. Due to this often not being configured correctly, j5 ignores the OPC time bias when this is set to True.

  • Read Timeout: The number of seconds before a tag reading times out.

  • Heartbeat Tag: j5 listens to this tag to detect disconnection events.

  • Heartbeat Update Interval: The expected maximum number of seconds between changes on the Heartbeat Tag.

  • Maximum Heartbeat Errors: The number of read errors before j5 does a forced reconnect.

  • Disable Auto-Prefix of Datasource Name: When True, the ‘opc_’ prefix is not added to the data source name in j5.

  • Display Possible Tags: When True, the possible tags are read from the OPC Source. This could cause performance issues with large OPC tag databases. When False, manual tag entry is still possible.

  • OPC Server: The OPC Server to connect to.

  • Server: The computer running the OPC Server.

  • Source Type: Determines whether this source is Real-time or Historical.

  • Timezone: The TZ database name for the timezone the OPC server’s times (for example, Africa/Cairo).
