The scope selected when a file (IndustraForm template, theme, option list, or static file) is configured, and the position of the file in the navigation pane determine where that file is available or applied. The following is an explanation of this:

A file configured above the area tree in the navigation pane when the Everything scope is selected, is available in all of the areas and applications.

above tree - everything

In the above example, the static file (company_logo.png) is available in all of the areas and applications.

A file configured above the area tree in the navigation pane when a specific application scope is selected, is available in all of the areas for the selected application.

above tree - specific scope

In the above example, the Theme is applied to all of the Operator Round IndustraForm templates in all of the areas.

A file configured at an area node in the navigation pane when the Everything scope is selected, is available in that area, and its child areas, in all of the applications.

area node - everything

In the above example, the option list (generator_status) is available in the Power Generation area, and its child areas (Generation, Transmission, and Distribution) in all of the applications.

A file configured at an area node in the navigation pane when a specific application scope is selected, is available in that area, and its child areas, for the selected application.

area node - specific scope

In the above example, the shift handover IndustraForm template (Distillation Operator Report) is available in the Distillation area, and its child areas (Crude Oil Distillation Unit and Vacuum Distillation Unit) in the j5 Shift Handover application.

Application and area specific files override files with the same file type and name that were configured in the Everything scope or higher up the area tree. This way files can be specialized for their application and area.
